Andrea Dyben-Tackore is a (Florida) Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. She is a full-time professor of Counseling at an Orlando university. Dr Dyben-Tackore worked in the corporate worlds of retail, banking, radio and accounting before entering the counseling field. She started in private practice counseling in 2003, working with individuals, couples, adolescents and children. She has worked with early-intervention programs in elementary schools and as a counselor in the university setting.
Dr Dyben-Tackore works from a relational counseling theory. This means she believes the difficulties we experience are rooted in the challenges of developing satisfying, deeply connected relationship with others. She elicits client stories with empathy and presence, working with them to build a healthy relationship that will serve as the support and strength to grow. Through conquering the challenges of this developing therapeutic alliance, clients gain a stronger sense of self and confidence. Within the process, they gain the skills for creating healthy connections while rising from the ashes of past destructive relationships.
Dr Dyben-Tackore is originally from Jamaica but has lived in the US since 1979. While she personally embraces the Christian faith, she welcomes clients from all backgrounds as each client retains full control of spirituality in session. Dr Dyben-Tackore mothered for 22 years before her daughter passed away from complications of Cystic Fibrosis. Her personal story flows from being an adopted child to the deep losses of loved ones with God’s grace and blessings throughout. She is well familiar with the personal process of trial by fire. Her desire is to combine the clinical knowledge and experience she has gained with the lessons from her own journey to assist clients in their refining process.
